— Photographer
My name is Dorion, and I’m a photographer and storm chaser from Lawrence, Kansas. I am a postal worker by trade, working as a rural carrier for over 12 years. Cruising rural roads delivering mail fueled my love for the country and wide open spaces. That led to me getting my first Sony DSLR so I could learn how to capture what I saw. I began shooting landscapes and wildlife and my ambition to learn grew. Photography took on many interests early on as I tried to figure out “the how” in amazing shots I’d see on social media. That curiosity led me to my favorite subject.
Storms.
Storm chasing started locally for me as storms are plentiful in Kansas, and early on I could step out onto my deck and shoot a storm from home. The first time I captured lightning was a magical experience leaving me wanting more. Eventually, staying around home wasn’t enough and after a few years I expanded my range. I fell in love with the barren landscapes where these storms would take me. To the outer reaches of Kansas and beyond. I’m lucky to call Kansas my home and to see some amazing views here and in the surrounding plains. This site is dedicated to those places and those fleeting moments.
